Day 2 is all about this years Christmas Giftwrapping selections.
As detailed in the journaling on the photo (done in Photoshop Elements before I printed the photo as an 8x6), this year features gold, white, kraft and pink.
I am a huge fan of white and kraft giftbags, so much so that I buy them in bulk, usually lots of 50. I buy a medium sized bag along with packets of gold and white tissue paper.
For some years now I have purchased rolls of paper (both large and belli band size) in bulk from Wrapco. Definitely favouring the plainer main papers, I save the patterns for either the belli bands or the extras that I simply must add to a gift. It doesn't feel complete without lots of trimmings. Selecting my gift wrap colour scheme is every bit important to me as selecting the colour scheme of our Christmas Tree.
..... and they must co- ordinate! Later in the month I will decorate those paper gift bags and those plus any wrapped gifts are sure to make a blogpost of their own!
I am using the above photo as a page and not in a page protector.
Here is how is sits in the album:
In keeping with a gift wrapping theme, I have 'tied' up the page with some pink embroidery floss, added a tag which I die cut using Ali Edwards set of 3 tags offered in her December Daily release of products back in October, embossed it using a Sizzix embossing folder and simply threaded the floss through the star shaped hole and tied a bow to secure it. I added the '2' from Heidi Swapp Countdown numbers pack in Silver (also in the kit), plus a star sticker and a 2 gold glitter enamel dots. A very simple page and there are no prizes for guessing that a photo will be on the flip side for Day 3!
Backtracking to the flip page of Day 1 .... I have added a few embellishments and the 'joy' die cut from the kit (you can purchase yours here)... however, as is often the case for me, I have come up with an after the fact plan for making this page more than a decorative page. Always thinking of ways to utilise album real estate.
in order to execute my idea, I will need to cart my album or perhaps just this page with me during December.
I will be sure to share what it ends up looking like towards the end of December.
Update from Day 1.
I finally got the extra journaling home sorted. I complicated matters by printing on vellum because then there was a stability issue. Vellum doesn't hold up long term as a stand alone page, I didn't want Day 1 to end up taking 3 sides of 2 page protectors, I didn't want the additional journaling on show as such. Perhaps it's easier if I show you the solution I came up with....
This pic shows it sitting tucked inside the page protector behind the journal page that was already done and dusted. To make obvious there is something additional I topped the vellum over cardstock (die cut using Heidi Swapp hand drawn stars die set), I stapled a bow cut using a die by Pinkfresh Studio to the top.
Here it is pulled up a few inches...
Here it is pulled all the way out.... yes, it is blurry as I did not want to share all of the words
Here is the remaining journaling after I removed that which I choose not to share ...
The words that I have edited out pertain to my elderly Mum and consist of some of my thoughts and feelings on having an ageing parent. They are good thoughts simply not appropriate to share here. The journaling has been typed onto a Paislee Press Minimalist 6x8 Template, the pink paper at the top is in the One Little Bird December Daily Digital Kit for Ali Edwards. I did reduce the opacity to around 60% for the body of journaling and left the header closer to 100%. I then printed on American Crafts 40lb vellum.
Thank you for stopping by, hello again if you have visited previously. This is one project I enjoy working on and blogging about usually daily during December.
My very best wishes for a beautiful December day,
